Is the Dangbei DBOX02 4K Laser Projector With Google TV Worth It?

For a living room where one box has to handle the picture, the sound and the streaming, the Dangbei DBOX02 is worth serious consideration: per the Amazon listing it is a 4K laser projector rated at 2450 ISO lumens with Google TV and officially licensed Netflix built in, Blu-ray 3D, dual 12W speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS:X, and dual HDMI ports including eARC. Dangbei's own product page fills in what the listing leaves out: a 1.27:1 throw ratio, a 60-to-200-inch image range, a 30,000-hour light source, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2, and a noise rating below 24 dB in standard mode. The reasons to pause are that neither source states a contrast ratio, a color gamut or an input-lag figure, that no lens shift is listed, and that Dangbei's own footnote describes the 2450-lumen number as a lab-condition average in high-power mode.

Updated October 2026.

We did not test this product ourselves; this review is built from the manufacturer's published specifications and Amazon's product listing.

What the DBOX02 is

The Amazon listing's title reads "Dangbei DBOX02 Laser Projector 4K GTV", and its bullets name Google TV as the operating system the projector runs. Dangbei's own store page also lists it as the Mars Pro 2.

This is a long-throw projector that sits on a table or hangs from the ceiling, not an ultra-short-throw unit that lives against the wall: Dangbei's page lists front, rear, front-ceiling and rear-ceiling projection and a 1.27:1 throw ratio. The page describes the engine as DLP with a 0.47-inch UHD DMD chip, an ALPD laser light source and a 4K UHD (3840x2160) resolution. The chip size is worth knowing before you buy: our native 4K versus pixel-shift explainer covers how DLP projectors in this class put a 3840x2160 image on the screen and what that does and does not change for a viewer.

Brightness and the laser light source

Both sources give the same headline figure: 2450 ISO lumens. The Amazon listing pairs that with ALPD, which it expands as Advanced Laser Phosphor Display, claims "clear, vivid visuals even in daylight", and says ALPD "eliminates the speckle effect common in traditional laser projectors". Dangbei's page lists the light source as "Laser (ALPD Laser Technology)" and attaches a footnote to the brightness number: the 2450 figure is a mass-production average measured under ideal laboratory conditions in high-power mode, per ISO 21118.

A high-power lab average describes that one mode, not necessarily every mode the projector offers. Our guide to how many lumens a home theater projector needs explains how room light and screen size eat into a rated figure; a number this size is aimed at rooms with some ambient light, not only at blacked-out theaters.

Dangbei rates the light source lifespan at 30,000 hours, a number the Amazon listing does not give, and lists AI brightness adjustment and an eye-protection mode with automatic dimming, neither of which appears in the listing's bullets.

Resolution, HDR and 3D

Dangbei lists the resolution as 4K UHD (3840x2160) and the refresh rate as up to 4K at 60Hz and up to 1080p at 240Hz. The Amazon listing's title names HDR10+; Dangbei's page lists HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG, and neither source lists Dolby Vision. Dangbei also lists MEMC motion compensation as "Yes", which the listing does not mention.

3D is listed by both sources, in slightly different words. The Amazon listing says "Blu-ray 3D visuals"; Dangbei's spec table says "Yes, 3D in Full HD". Read together, that is 3D at 1080p, the resolution 3D Blu-ray discs use. Neither source says which glasses work with it or whether any are included.

Google TV, Netflix and the smart side

Per the listing, the DBOX02 runs Google TV with access to 10,000+ apps, including licensed Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video and Hulu, with one-touch Netflix activation, Chromecast sharing and Google Home voice control through the remote. Dangbei's page lists the content apps as Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, Hulu and Disney+, with Chromecast built in and over-the-air updates.

Both sources call Netflix officially licensed, which means the built-in app is the official one rather than a workaround, so the projector's own system can be the only streaming device in the setup. Dangbei's page puts the hardware behind that system at 2GB of DDR3 RAM and 32GB of eMMC 5.1 storage; the processor is not named.

Sound and connections

Per the listing, the DBOX02 has dual 12W built-in speakers with Dolby Audio and DTS:X. Dangbei's page lists the speakers as 2 x 12W and the formats as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS:X. In practice, that decoding plus the eARC port lets you route sound to a soundbar or receiver instead of relying on the internal drivers.

Connections are where the manufacturer page adds the most. The Amazon listing says dual HDMI ports, including eARC, and two USB ports. Dangbei's page itemizes them: HDMI 2.1 x 1, HDMI eARC x 1, USB 2.0 x 2, LAN x 1 and DC-IN x 1, plus a 3.5mm audio port and an SPDIF port. Wireless is listed as Wi-Fi 6 dual-band (2.4 and 5GHz, 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and Bluetooth 5.2/BLE; the Amazon listing's title says only "WiFi and Bluetooth".

The page distinguishes one HDMI 2.1 port from the eARC port and does not say the eARC port is also HDMI 2.1. Neither source gives an input-lag figure, a game mode or ALLM.

Setup: throw, zoom and the automatic corrections

Per the listing, setup relies on fast autofocus, auto keystone correction, screen fit and intelligent obstacle avoidance, grouped under the name InstanPro AI Image Setup. Dangbei's page gives the detail: dToF plus camera autofocus, auto keystone to plus or minus 30 degrees, intelligent screen fit, intelligent obstacle avoidance, a 100% projection offset and a zoom range of 100% to 50%.

The throw ratio of 1.27:1 is the number that decides whether it fits your room. A throw ratio is distance divided by image width, so for a 100-inch 16:9 image, which is about 87 inches wide, the arithmetic puts the lens roughly 111 inches, a little over 9 feet, from the screen; a 120-inch image works out to about 11 feet. Dangbei lists the supported image size as 60 to 200 inches and recommends 80 to 120 inches. Our throw distance and screen size guide walks through the same math for any ratio.

Dangbei's page does not say whether the zoom is optical or digital, and it lists no lens shift. In practice, a digital zoom shrinks the image by using fewer of the chip's pixels, and without lens shift the mounting height is set by that 100% offset: the image sits entirely above the lens centerline on a table and below it when ceiling-mounted. Auto keystone squares an off-axis picture digitally, so a square mount is still the goal.

The physical package, per Dangbei's page: 9.29 by 7.93 by 6.43 inches, 8.8 pounds, power consumption of about 150W through a 180W (18V/10A) power adapter, an operating range of 5 to 35 degrees Celsius, and noise of less than 24 dB in standard mode, stated at 25 degrees Celsius from 1 meter. In the box, per the same page: the 180W power plug, an AC cord, the remote control, a wiping cloth, a user manual and AAA batteries. Dangbei's page lists a 1-year warranty; the Amazon listing, as read, does not state a warranty term, so confirm the terms on the listing you buy from.

What stands out

  • 2450 ISO lumens from an ALPD laser, stated identically by both sources, with a 30,000-hour lifespan on Dangbei's page.
  • Google TV with officially licensed Netflix, per both sources, so no external stick is needed for the main services.
  • 3D support, listed by both sources: Blu-ray 3D per the listing, 3D in Full HD per Dangbei.
  • eARC plus an SPDIF port and DTS:X decoding, per Dangbei's page, for routing sound to a receiver or soundbar.

Where it might not fit

  • No contrast ratio or color gamut is published by either source, a gap for a dedicated-theater buyer comparing spec sheets.
  • No lens shift is listed, and the zoom type is unstated, so placement flexibility rests on keystone correction.
  • No input-lag, ALLM or game-mode figure appears on either source, and only one port is listed as HDMI 2.1.
  • The brightness figure is a high-power lab average, by Dangbei's own footnote; it describes that one mode.

Verdict

Worth it for a mixed-use room where the projector has to be the whole entertainment system. The Amazon listing and Dangbei's page agree on the parts that matter most for that job, 2450 ISO lumens from a laser, Google TV with licensed Netflix, 3D, dual 12W speakers with DTS:X and an eARC port, and Dangbei's spec table adds Wi-Fi 6, a 30,000-hour light source and a sub-24 dB noise rating. The buyer it suits less is the dedicated-theater owner who wants a published contrast ratio, lens shift and a gaming latency figure, none of which either source provides. Check your throw distance against the 1.27:1 ratio, then check the current price of the Dangbei DBOX02 on Amazon.

FAQ

Is the Dangbei DBOX02 4K laser projector with Google TV worth it?

Yes, for a living room or den that wants a bright 4K laser projector with streaming, 3D and sound built in: both sources rate it at 2450 ISO lumens, with Google TV, licensed Netflix, 3D and an eARC port. It is a weaker fit for a dedicated theater, since neither source publishes a contrast ratio, color gamut, lens shift or input-lag figure.

How bright is the Dangbei DBOX02?

Both sources rate it at 2450 ISO lumens. Dangbei's footnote says that figure is a mass-production average measured in high-power mode under ideal lab conditions per ISO 21118, so it describes that mode, not necessarily the others.

Does the Dangbei DBOX02 support 3D?

Yes. The Amazon listing lists Blu-ray 3D, and Dangbei's spec table says "Yes, 3D in Full HD". Neither source says whether glasses are included.

What ports does the DBOX02 have?

Per Dangbei's page: one HDMI 2.1, one HDMI eARC, two USB 2.0, one LAN, a 3.5mm audio port, an SPDIF port and DC-IN. The Amazon listing summarizes this as dual HDMI including eARC and two USB ports.

How far from the screen does the DBOX02 need to sit?

Dangbei lists a 1.27:1 throw ratio and recommends an 80-to-120-inch image. Multiplying the image width by that ratio puts the lens a little over 9 feet from the screen for a 100-inch 16:9 image and about 11 feet for a 120-inch image.
